Tate & Lyle in the Community
Tate & Lyle’s purpose is Improving Lives for Generations. Our people believe passionately that, through our purpose, we can successfully grow our business and have a positive impact on society.
Our purpose touches all parts of our business and drives what we do. But we want to do more. This led us to consider which of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals are closest to our Purpose and we have agreed that they are: Zero Hunger; Good Health and Wellbeing; Gender Equality; Responsible Consumption and Production; and Climate Action. In May 2020 we announced a set of ambitious commitments for each of our three pillars of our purpose. As part of our pillar focused on building thriving communities where we operate and supporting people to achieve their potential, we have set ourselves the following commitments:
• By 2025, we will achieve gender parity in leadership roles.
• By 2025, we will have provided over 3 million nutritious meals for people in need.
• By 2025, we will have supported the education of over 100,000 children and students through learning programmes and grants and helped them attain skills for life.
Our partners in this work include registered charities, educational institutions and non-governmental agencies that meet our high standards for delivering services and results.
We’re proud that our colleagues across our more than 30 locations lead the way in our community outreach – championing programmes in home communities that change us and the lives of others for better.
While we do align our Tate & Lyle in the Community Programme strategy and budgets annually, if you are a registered charity who would like to tell us more about your work and projects, please see our Giving Guidelines for Charitable Partners.
Education: STEM grants
We’re passionate about inspiring students to explore careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and our STEM-focused grants are intended to do just that.
